My Soon-To-Be-Aptly-Named Music Recommendation Blog Series (And Some Other Stuff, Too)

Hey. You should be really excited right now. Like super excited. Why? Well, there are two reasons, and I'm about to tell you of them now because that would be just plain rude of me to withhold them from you.

Reason 1: Finals are over! No more school after tomorrow! Rejoice, my friends! (But contain your bubbles of joy. You're spilling all over my laptop.)

Reason 2: Today marks the commencement of my periodical music blog post! Say "yay". ("Yay.") Thank you.

Before I start my periodical series, I must talk about my events of awesome that I mentioned.

1. The Junior UP Experience:
An awesomesauce conference for high schoolers. We met and listened to five of the brightest worldly minds, including Wendy Schiller, a Political Science professor at Brown; Luis von Ahn, the inventor of the CAPTCHA; David Pogue, a technology blogger for the New York Times; Michael Eisner, the CEO of the Walt Disney Company; and Bill Nye, the Science Guy. Yes. I was in the same room as freaking Bill Nye. Bill. Nye. B I L L. N Y E. The nine other girls I was with (students from the top 15 ranked students from my class) and I had a blast, and we still talk about how we can 'change the world'.

2. Region Choir:
I probably didn't tell you, but I did make the Mixed Choir at All-Region tryouts. (And this is my first year in choir, too!) My school played a playoff game -football- at the school where we were having the Region Clinic, so changing in the school's super long bathrooms into my marching uniform was ridiculously fun. The next day, I happened to be standing across the stage from two extremely ADORABLE Bass 2s (I sing Soprano 2) who played football for the school we were having the Region Clinic/Concert (the same school we'd beat in football the previous night). Guess who gave me the stank eye the entire night while I was secretly singing love songs to them?
Aaaaaah! Z. Randall Stroope touched mah faceeeeee! And I lurve his songs: Song to the Moon (La Luna) (By the way, this is not our choir singing; it's one of only 2 videos I could find...) and Psalm 23. (Still not us...)

3. Pre-Area Choir Auditions: December 2nd, the kids who made Mixed Choir had a chance to re-audition for Area. Area kids then get to compete for spaces in the All-State group. Anyway, of course, I saw my love-muffins from that school (the one we whooped in football) and I finally heard them speak. Oh-my-goodness, the one I liked more (let's call him Quarterback Tom--no, that's not his real name. Or position, for that matter.) had an extremely whiny voice that didn't match his stunning hazel eyes at all... But they did match his 5-foot-6 stature. Ugh. Talk about annoying. Even though I didn't advance, I had SO much fun 'con mis nueve coro amigos'. (I have no idea if I said that correctly. At all. Sorry.)

4. Region Band Auditions:
Talk about intimidation. But on Friday night of auditions, I made 5th chair! (Out of 86! AWESOMESAUCE :DD) And then the 14 of us who made a region group had a second round audition on Saturday -- in which I placed 6th... and advanced to AREA! On Jan. 8th, we'll see if I've advanced to All-State or not. Saturday, we were forced to be at auditions for 8+ hours. That was a fun filled day. Heheheh.

AND NOW TO THE MUSIC BLOG WE SHALL GO. (Anastrophe.)

Hi there. I will now be listing 5 songs (and possibly a bonus song) that I am recommending to you. Mhm. To keep with the theme of Christmas, I will be recommending songs pertaining to the holiday for several weeks. :)

1. Baby, It's Cold Outside - Darren Criss & Chris Colfer
I love this Christmas song because ROMANCE. Their version is the cutest version I've heard EVER.

2. Oh, Holy Night - Josh Groban (or anyone else, really.)
An amazing soloist sings this song EVERY year at Christmastime at church, and it's my favorite song to hear.

3. The Prayer - Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli
If this isn't a Christmas song, I don't care. This song is ridiculously awesome and stunningly beautiful.

4. Christmas is Creepy - Fred Figglehorn
Okay. Time for laughs. *Laughs commence in 3... 2... 1...*

5. The Christmas Song - Michael Buble
This song is so sweet, and I love Mr. Buble. Win WIN.

That's all for now. Love y'all.
~Lisa :]
