Dang. She's good.
(Disclaimer - I'm not advocating the lyrics of the original song or the cover, but Karmin's got some fantastic stuff--albeit mostly rap--and you should check it out.)
Anyway, I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
I KNOW. I've been gone a long time. But I desperately need to talk to you, so I'm back.
Hopefully with the break, I can write to you ONCE a day. (I've got a self-inflicted quota to reach each year, and I'm so far behind my goal.)
Now for the real stuff.
I understand the system.
I understand what the system is.
I understand how to manipulate the system.
I understand that I am better than the system.
I understand that I cannot beat the system.
The only way for me to beat the system is to graduate and become successful.
I wrote this in my journal the other evening. The system is high school. There is no escape from this system. As soon I reach the top, I get punched in the groin and kicked to the bottom.
You know, I've spent so long trying to reach this earthly level of high school perfection -- having fantastic best friends and a boyfriend, keeping up amazing grades and a spotless resume, being Facebook friends with all my teachers... Just kidding. Some people have figured out how to manipulate the system --kudos to them; I'm jealous!-- but I'm beginning to see past the facade that is popularity and understand that there is a bigger goal. (An unattainable Goal, but a goal, nonetheless.)
Becoming an erudite person is a bigger goal.
Being self-sufficient (on an earthly scale) is a bigger goal.
Spreading the Good News is a HUGE goal. (It's an hard, but attainable one.)
Get my drift?
In ten years, I want to be able to say to all of those who are currently winning, "Look at Me Now. I've defeated the system. I'm sorry you're still stuck in it."
Let's beat the system, instead of being tricked into becoming a part of it. Join me?
Love always,
Lisa :]
