Fat Talk

Hey, ladies.

We are being plagued by a need to be thin. We crash diet, starve ourselves, and develop eating disorders because we beat ourselves up for having a little (or a lot of) extra weight. We loathe our body parts through "fat talk" (ex. my arms are so jiggly!). According to this article, a whopping 93% of college-aged women engage in fat talk. 93 PERCENT. That's appalling, isn't it? Why must we continually demean ourselves? We're tearing ourselves apart!

Watch this:
(The video's a little old, but the message is still important.)

For someone who classifies as obese, fat talk among her skinny friends hurts her self esteem. A lot. It can destroy her. Although blogs like these are great for building a support system, it reminds us that people won't accept us until we fit into the beauty frame that society has carved for us to fit into. BOO.

Stop fat talk, yo. 'Be the change you want to see.'

Peace,
Lisa
